The Opportunity:
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and meticulous individual for our Field Application Engineer position based in our Centurion office, South Africa. If you are looking for an opportunity to work with customers to interpret product specifications and literature, providing technical expertise to engineers searching for solutions to power system protection problems, assisting in after-sales product support via telephone and site visits, and participating in technical conferences, industry technical meetings, and marketing and sales activities at trade shows and relay conferences then this may be the position for you!

Field Application Engineer

Responsibilities:
*Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
*Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software and literature.
*Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.
*Maintain and improve knowledge of all SEL products.
*Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel.
*Maintain customer database for customer application information.
*Follow and improve marketing, sales and engineering quality procedures

Qualifications:
*Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
*Minimum 5 years experience in protection of electric power systems
*Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
*Experience with protective relay applications and industry practices
*Ability to travel
*Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
*Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
*Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience using SEL products
