Job description
Your Family magazine is looking for a Food Editor to join the editorial team based in Craighall Park, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for the food sections in the magazine, developing their own recipes, sourcing props and locations (if needed) for food shoots, styling their food for shoots, as well as attending industry functions on behalf of the magazine.

REQUIREMENTS:
- a food qualification or a minimum three year's relevant experience would be an advantage
- an excellent command of the English language and the ability to write concise recipes in a clear manner
- the ability to contribute relevant feature ideas across the food section: family food, weekend entertaining and baking
- a sharp eye for detail - recipe accuracy is paramount
- impressive organisation skills: planning recipes for features, shopping for ingredients, co-ordinating shoots and preparing food for shoot dates, adjusting recipes as needed during testing
- working well in a team, including the answering of reader food queries and achieving the magazine's editorial deadlines
- a knowledge of social media and the ability to boost social media profile of the magazine
- a keen interest in the food industry, keeping up with the latest trends, must-have kitchen gadgets and new styles
- the candidate should be prepared to travel to product launches when required, and attend functions after-hours and overnight when needed
- own transport is essential in this role, as is a valid driver's license
