The key account manager is responsible for the achievement of company objectives, aimed at supporting the overall business objectives of increasing sales and profit and growing the market in South Africa. This includes the development of key relationships within the account.


Job description

The key account manager is responsible for the achievement of company objectives, aimed at supporting the overall business objectives of increasing sales and profit and growing the market in South Africa. This includes the development of key relationships within the account.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• The development of a key account strategy, clearly aligned to the overall business strategy
• Leading and co-ordinating all departmental functions in supporting the strategy
• Managing the budget
• Building strategic relationships with key accounts
• Operations support - working closely with the field managers
• Product support - working closely with the product team to maximize and manage the product brand mix and price band offering
• Marketing initiatives - monitoring market activity, developing marketing strategies in conjunction with Edgars

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships, influence and negotiate
• Proven track record working within large departmental retailer
• Demonstrated ability in operations, product, marketing and VM
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of the preparation and implementation of contractual agreements
• Analysis and problem solving skills
• Effective execution of plans
• Ability to interpret market trends
• Strong financial acumen (analysis and budgetting0m
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office)

FORMAL QUALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Matric plus business-related tertiary qualifications
• Minimum six years experience in a quality business, preferably including management of key accounts and the development of new opportunities
