Deliver technical design solutions according to agreed standards that address the business requirements within the agreed timeframe
• Construct system code in line with the technical specification and delivered within the agreed timeframe as per the project plan
• Identify all defects during testing (Functional, System, Integration, Stress testing & UAT) and configure application build
• Adherence to the current SDLC policy, agreed standards & policies.
• Manage time as agreed with regular status reports
• Assistance in the design and architecture of Systems
• Object oriented design and data modeling
• Research of best practices principles
• Production of technical specifications
• Mentoring of staff
• Application systems development
• Co-ordination of development testing and implementation
• Systems Analysis and Design
Competencies:
• Able to work under pressure
• Programming logic must be on the highest level possible
• Ability to work as a team player, as well as work alone when required and without supervision
• Able to work in conditions of change, flexible and open to learn new languages and architecture
• Ability to multi-task
• Attitude of “owning” a problem or task
• Recognise the unique demands of IT w.r.t. non-conventional working hours
Qualifications & Experience:
• A tertiary qualification, preferably B Comm (IS) or BSc (Computer Science)
• An applicable Java Programming Certification preferred
• 3-4 years systems Development and Design experience
• 2-3 years’ Product ( Java ) specific experience
• Data Modeling skills
• Object-orientated techniques
• Design skills
• J2EE Architecture experience [EJB, XML, Servlet API, Design patterns, JSP & JMS]
• Experience on an Oracle platform
• Systems design experience essential
• Some exposure to the Life Insurance industry would be useful, or at least some experience in a corporate financial environment
