Reporting to the: Sales Manager
Key Performance Areas
1. Selling of advertising space against set targets on a monthly basis:
• The sale of magazine advertising space against pre-determined targets. In performing this function, the additional responsibilities will include:
The regular and ongoing communication with clients, which includes advertising agency as well as direct clients and prospective new clients.
The design and delivery of advertising presentation packages usually around certain events relevant to the magazines editorial focus or the magazines performance and activities.
• To meet and strive to exceed the advertising targets for each edition of the magazine;
• To supply the Sales Manager with weekly reports detailing the current advertising situation with respect to the following issue and the magazine in general;
• Assume responsibility for the advertising sales of all one-off publications against set targets.
2. Sourcing of new business opportunities:
• To be creative and innovative in attracting new advertisers to the magazine;
To work closely with the Sales Manager in ensuring that all opportunities are taken advantage of and that the adverts reflect their vision;
• To receive all competing magazines, analyse and approach all potential clients, making regular personal presentations to clients.
• To create a list of all advertising prospects and to ensure that it is continually updated.
3. Client liaison, customer service, networking and positive representation of the brand:
• To strive to have all advertisers commit to long term contracts;
To represent the magazine by visiting all advertising and marketing clients nationally and attending functions on behalf of the magazine.
To ensure that all adverts and advertorials that require making up are done in the specified time and are approved by the client;
• Develop and maintain a database of all Coastal advertisers and clients.
To build long-term enduring relationships with advertisers
• Undertake regular travel to Durban and Port Elizabeth to service clients and prospects in these areas
• To conduct no fewer than ten face- to- face meetings with new or existing advertisers per week.
4. Support team in achieving high quality end product:
• To ensure that all advertising material reaches our offices by the stipulated deadlines;
• To ensure that all Copy Instructions and confirmation letters are in place and that credit checks of all new clients are performed before adverts are placed.
Requirements
• Relevant tertiary qualification with two to three years related experience.
• Previous related experience in a magazine environment preferable.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficient personal computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills and a strong command of the English language (written and verbal)
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills
• High level of organizational and effective time-management skills.
• Valid driver's license and own reliable transport.
